FX3 will be released in February 2021 as "Alpha on Steroids". The FX3 is the "low-end" camera in the "cine line" that includes the FX6, FX9 and the mighty VENICE. Sony wants to complement this lineup with a compact and affordable camera. FX3 is designed for single-player shooters. However, it lacks TC, so it cannot be endorsed by Netflix. However, this was fixed in the last firmware update. So after firmware 2.0, it was only a matter of time before the FX3 got the Netflix badge.
The FX3 retails for $3,899.99; by comparison, the a7s III costs $3,498; and the Canon C70 costs $5,499, which is $1,600 more than the FX3. That's a significant difference, and probably not a good comparison considering the C70 costs a lot more. However, the C70 gives you more features like a built-in ND and a larger LCD screen. Bigger size...the more I think about it, the more I think they just share the defect of not having an EVF. 😀 If you add the XLR-K3M ($598.00) XLR audio adapter to the a7s III, the total price is $4096, making the a7s III more expensive than the FX3, but the FX3 doesn't come with the ECM-XM1 shotgun mic, and as we all know, the mic doesn't work with the XLR -K3M is used separately. If you can find the ECM-XM1, the difference of $196.01 seems like a lot of money, as it doesn't look like it can be purchased separately. It can be used or as a replacement for about $130.00.
